MAKING & USING MISO WITH DETROIT MUSHROOM FACTORY This web-based cooking class with Detroit Mushroom Factory shows participants how to make homemade miso and shares ideas for using miso in your home cooking. Miso is a traditional Japanese seasoning produced by fermenting soybeans with salt and koji (the fungus Aspergillus oryzae) and sometimes rice, barley, seaweed, or other ingredients.
TREATIES AND DETROIT Our second in a series of conversations about land and treaty rights, past intentions as well as present and future possibilities. Speakers this evening will discuss Treaties and the Detroit Area. Please join us as we establish lines of communication and share information in an effort to move individuals, groups, and society in a new direction. At the heart of this evening is a spirit of Maada’oonidiwag – a spirit of sharing. Sharing Ojibwe connections to land, sharing connections to land that run deep in communities of color, and sharing connections to land that we all have individually and collectively. Nadia and Mamba came to the United States from Burundi in 2014, yearning to start a new life by taking advantage of the business opportunities in Detroit.
