SUPPORTING CAREGIVERS & FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN
Each year a significant portion of KGD’s outreach efforts and garden development support is aimed at educators, organizations and families invested in the health, wellness and development of children birth to 5. Whether at home, at school or in the community where these children interact and play, KGD works to create spaces and teachable moments for young Detroiters to develop healthy habits.
Keep Growing Detroit developed Grow with Me activities and newsletters to support our early childhood education partners. Grow with Me cards contain simple age-appropriate activities for educators to utilize in tandem with a small garden. Grow with Me newsletters include upcoming activities and events for early childhood educators and parents, seasonal gardening tips, tasting activities, and strategies for making connections to early learning domains all centered around children ages 0-5.
