Seasonal Farmer

Emily is a Seasonal Farmer at the Keep Growing Detroit Farm. Raised in Southeast Michigan, Emily has an affinity for the Great Lakes and a deep love for the outdoors. They have spent years working on farms and gardens, facilitating place-based youth programs, and guiding students in the backcountry. Emily has been connected to KGD since they were in high school, where they would volunteer on Plum Street with PeerCorps Detroit. Later on, Emily reconnected with KGD in 2017 as an intern through the University of Michigan’s Semester in Detroit program, and helped facilitate KGD’s Youth Apprenticeship program during the summer of 2018. Emily is now returning to Detroit after nearly three years living in Salt Lake City, Utah, and is so happy to be back at Keep Growing Detroit! When they’re not farming, Emily enjoys biking, playing ultimate frisbee, and sharing food with the people they love.
