You must be a Garden Resource Program member - as a family, community, school, or market garden - in order to participate in the following event

Garden Resource Program Cold Crop Distribution Dates & Times

Tuesday, April 15th, 12:00 PM - 2:30 PM 

Wednesday, April 16th, 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Monday, April 21st, 4:00 PM - 6:30 PM

Please note that we will need to postpone or reschedule distribution in case of severe weather such as wind exceeding 35 miles per hour, heavy rain or snowfall exceeding 1 inch per hour, temperatures exceeding 95°F or below 32°F, thunder or lightning, or air quality index at or above 150.

Get Ready for Distribution

Sign up to volunteer with us at cold crop distribution. 

Review your seed and transplant options: Family Gardens | Community, School & Market Gardens.

Review Cold Crop Planting Instructions.

Set aside a box or two to collect your seeds and transplants.

If you can't attend, a friend or family member can pick up on your behalf—just have them provide the primary gardener’s name at check in.

Parking

KGD Farm is located at 3100 Orleans St, Detroit, MI 48207. Parking is available in the lot across the street from the farm (entrances to the lot are on Wilkin St. and Riopelle St). There is also street parking available on Erskine St. for easier accessibility.  Parking is not allowed on Orleans St.

What to Expect

Plan for up to 30 minutes to complete distribution, especially during peak times.

When you arrive, check in at the check-in table to the right of the farm entrance.

If you need to pay for or have questions about your 2025 application, visit the application & payment table to the left of the farm entrance.

A swap table will be available for growers to exchange seeds and transplants.

Visit the engagement table for KGD class info, upcoming events, and a fun activity for GRP kiddos.

No pets allowed except for service animals.

Accessibility at KGD Farm

There is a step-free entrance at the corner of Orleans & Wilkins. There is one step up onto the curb from Orleans St to the entrance of KGD farm. Pathway materials at KGD Farm include wood chips, gravel, and grass. 

Let us know if you need help carrying resources to your car—we’re happy to assist!

Additional options for obtaining your resources are available upon request for those with mobility challenges.

If you have mobility challenges and need your seeds and transplants delivered to your home, please send your request by Friday, April 11th. You can email Jessica Pitts Jessica@keepgrowingdetroit.org or call 313-656-4769 to make arrangements.

We cannot accommodate pickups outside of scheduled distribution times. A makeup distribution with limited options will be scheduled at a later date.
