Garden Based Learning: Training Series from Early Childcare Professionals - Part 3: Harvesting Healthy Habits: Bringing More Fruits and Vegetables to the Table

We're so excited to inspire and support Detroit's early childcare professionals to get the little ones they care for outside, connecting with nature and excited about eating fruits and veggies!

This three-part series for early childcare professionals introduces simple Garden-Based Learning tools and activities and tools that will help create a healthy eating environment in the classroom, during meals and snacks and through active use of outdoor learning environments.

  • You must be an early childcare professional serving Detroit, Highland Park or Hamtramck to participate. Our focus will be early childcare programs serving children through age 5.

  • The classes are approved by Michigan Registry and participants will receive 2 hours of continuing education credits after each class (6 hours total for series).

  • It is recommended that participants enroll in all three parts to maximize opportunities for garden-based learning, but you may enroll for a single session.

  • Incentives will be provided for individuals that complete the entire series.

If that's you, we hope you'll dig in deep with Keep Growing Detroit for this 3-part Garden Based Learning Training series. Register below, or contact Lindsay@keepgrowingdetroit.org for more info.

Part 3: July 19, 6-8PM. Harvesting Healthy Habits: Bringing More Fruits and Vegetables to the Table focuses on opportunities to introduce children to fresh and healthy local fruits and vegetables through tastings, meals and snacks. It also introduces participants to opportunities and resources to procure seasonal fruits and vegetables for their programs
