Youth Farm Training: Spring 2023 Application out!

Keep Growing Detroit is recruiting youth for our farm training program this spring!! Each year KGD distributes starter plants to gardeners all across the city and we need your help. Youth Leaders will work 4 hours/week on Saturdays supporting transplant production at the KGD Farm and learning valuable lessons about food and farming. Youth will be paid a monthly stipend for their hard work!

Timeline:
If this training opportunity sounds like a good fit for you AND you meet the eligibility requirements below, please fill out this form by midnight February 27th. Potential applicants may be asked to do an interview the week of Feb 28th . If selected, youth will be invited to a paid orientation March 6th 6-8PM.

Eligibility Requirements:
- Youth ages 14-19 (as of March 1)
- Resident of Detroit, Highland Park or Hamtramck
- Has reliable transportation to work
- Has experience with gardening or farming, preferred not required
- Special consideration given to previous KGD youth and youth of Garden Resource Program members
- Must be able to work most Saturdays in March , April, and May
- Must abide by KGD Covid -19 Safety Guidelines including: social distancing from co-workers, wearing a mask while at work, daily symptom reporting, staying home if sick, washing hands frequently, sanitizing work station before and after shift. In additional no more than 8 people will be the greenhouse at one time.
